MAKING THE GATEWAY CENTERS A REALITY

Motivated by the vision of new centers for learning and gathering around the United States, a diverse group of prominent leaders and organizations in the Antioch community has come together to sponsor the Gateway Centers initiative. This cross-section of the Antioch community – business, school and neighborhood leaders along with library trustees and City officials – has received professional support from Contra Costa County Library staff and the Prewett Park project.

To develop and complete these two libraries, the Gateway Centers initiative seeks $2 million in tax-deductible contributions from individuals, businesses and the philanthropic community. Completing the fundraising campaign for the libraries on an accelerated timeline in 2009 would allow wise planning and efficient use of resources at the same time as the Prewett Park Community Center is under construction.

AN INVITATION TO SUPPORT…
Antioch’s Gateway Centers for Learning will be places to educate, explore and connect. They will nurture success in young people and contribute to greater fulfillment in adult lives. They will make it possible for our young learners to get off to a good start and equip all members of our community with high-tech skills for information-gathering necessary for personal and job success in the digital age. They will enhance the pleasure of learning, advance careers and continuously infuse Antioch’s economic development with the vitality of an educated and literate community.

We invite you to help make this vision become a reality. By creating the Gateway Centers for Learning in Antioch, we can benefit our community – and start something that will inspire communities everywhere.
